Houston Keyboardist Produces Smooth Jazz fused with R&B and Brazilian Samba
Houston, Texas April 1, 2016: Morgan Bouldin has delivered a groundbreaking, pioneering
fusion of Brazilian Samba and American Soul, spiced with compelling, smooth jazz. Produced, arranged
and performed by Bouldin, the CD features a powerful, passionate rendition of the Temptations classic hit “My Girl”, Carlos Santana’s “Europa” and the Brazilian singer Marisa Monte’s romantic pop ballad, “Still Remember” (Ainda Lembro). Recorded in Sao Paulo, Brazil and Houston, Texas, the CD combines the genres of Latin groove and R&B with a remarkable array of color, warmth and sound.
Vocalist Lora Sims, with force and determination brings, the real soul to Soul Samba with a sultry performance on Going to Europa and a spirited interpretation of Bobby Hebb’s memorable Sunny. Other
guest artists include Kenneth Smith, Frank Lacy Jr., Kyle Turner, Lloyd Hughes and Brazilian percussionist Tony Parana. The CD’s tour de force is My Girl featuring Brazilian rhythms blended with vintage soul, conjuring visions of a tropical paradise and of mighty, endearing love. Rarely has soul and samba been combined into such a lethal, toxic brew. Vocalist Kenneth Smith rips into his gritty, powerful lead with fearless abandon, channeling reflections of the soul masters of yesteryear. Phaedra Vaughner contrasts his primal calls with sweet, breathy whisperings reminiscent of the memorable duets between Donnie Hathaway and Roberta Flack. Bouldin’s 6th CD features his trademark keyboard stylings and creative vision, as well as lead vocals on Tom Jobim’s One Note Samba.
Soul Samba is in worldwide distribution through a variety of retailers including CDBABY, Amazon, ITunes, Spotify, Rhapsody, Google Music and Apple Music. The website is Morganbouldin.com
